Common plecos start digging

Post by XEEN »

Hello,

I've 3 common pleco for 3 years, 15, 25, 30 cm and since yesterday they started digging holes in my tank (i don't really know if it's one of them or all of them).
Sand, wood and stones are moved and water turn turbid for some minutes after all this earthwork

Is it a sign of sexual maturity or something else ?

thank you in advance for your answers

I'm surprised this is the first time. My bigger plecos I've had started doing it as soon as they were large enough..Or rather, they did it some when smaller..but once they are about 8"-10" they can really move things and make a mess.
Sweet Dreams sweeter realities.

Common pleco's are avid diggers and love to uproot plants and decor,Not really a fish to be kept in a planted tank especially when mature.
