Un ID'd Doradid

Post by Sharkman »

Wow, I've been posting a lot of questions lately.
Anyways, my LFS has this little baby doradid, I want it lol
It always hides and is a mottled tan / brown color. It looks much like a miniature verson of O. niger only is more stout. What could it be?

I have a chance to get several baby uranoscopus for a good price. Are they better off in a shoal, or would they fight once they're bigger?

They ignore each other. I don't think keeping a shoal of 2 ft long boxy fish (yes, I have seen several specimens around that size) would be feasible, especially since they grow EXTREMELY quickly. Maybe in that 50'x50'x10' tank you have ;-)

So just one would be okay on its own? I used to have one housed with a Pseudodoras niger, a Sailfin pleco and a Hemibagrus wyckioides. The uranoscopus grew much more slowly than these, which is why I am considering it.
