What An Idiot
What An Idiot
I went to Wal-Mart the other day to buy two or three ghost shrimp for my gandma's new 2g aquarium (don't worry I don't regularly go to wal-mart but they were having a sale on ghost shrimp 7 cents a piece or something like that). Anyways, I went there, and I told the guy what I wanted. I also saw this bizarre oscar morph, they called it a zebra oscar, kinda like a tiger O but with white stripes instead of red. I asked him what it was. He told me it was an oscar, I said I know that but what morph is it? So... blah blah blah
Then I saw these little pictus cats in a small aquarium, and I love pictus cats so I asked how much they were because there was a sale on those too (they wouldn't go in the 2g). He told me about how I should have a huge aquarium... I said why's that? Pictus don't get bigger than six inches unless you power feed them like crazy only the best food and give them like a pond you might get a 7 or 8 inch pictus... He told me that wasn't true, he said he has three pictus cats about 15", I could barely hold in my laughter. He then told me about him putting his pictus cats in with two black rhoms and a 26" tiger oscar. I started to laugh, and then he told me he was building a 600g tank for all of this.
New lesson: WAL-MART NEEDS NEW AQUARIUM SPECIALISTS.

Re: What An Idiot
I suppose he could be confused with Leiarus pictus, and meant a 26" tiger shovelnose. However anyone who tries keeping other fish with Piranhas should be thrown in a room with a few Komodos. Just as with the fish, it might not happen immediately, but it'll happen at some point....Sharkman wrote:he said he has three pictus cats about 15", I could barely hold in my laughter. IMHO: This thread is a demonstration of particular cowardice is the fact that the other isn't here to defend himself! Pretty pathetic from but I guess not entirely expected from someone who's actively looking for a Paroon Shark and someone who openly dismissed wise advice against them from someone who gave it when it was ASKED FOR!

Look, if you need to belittle someone without them here to defend themselves don't expect me to reply. Too bad there isnt'a "Blocked List" for open forums? I'd clearly have my first candidate. Despite the heated dicussions I have had on these forums, I have alway strived to show respect for others.
Pete, I agree with your feelings regarding the Piranhas. but as a Mod., I would've expected you to sort of nip this discussion in the bud early.
Full length, not "Standard lenght of a Pim. blotchi would be in this range, give or take a few inches to possible stoy-telling exageration. This species is commonly mistaken for Pim. pictus. Pim. ornatus would be another potential but less likely candidate.he said he has three pictus cats about 15", I could barely hold in my laughter.

I would expect threads of this nature to be deleted! What about the poor bugger at Wal-mart - how about a little consideration instead of lording about scientific names? Anyone consider he could be a member? No it's not me BTW
