I have noticed in other topics things about snails and algae how to get rid of or having trouble in my tank .I have just put on a sterilizer on my 1000lt tank and found these things are worth there weight in gold .
It has lowered my algae problem to the affect even tank cleaning (glass ) and problem algae on plants are gone.The snails have been dieing in good numbers ,i just keep on draining them out .This was not even the reason i purchased the sterilizer.
I found something that works so i thought i would pass in on .
This just gives me more time to enjoy my tank than clean it .
We have UVs running on three tanks. I agree that they are useful, even if they are not the magic that is sometimes claimed. I can't imagine that the UV has anything to do with your snails dying.
The UV seems to kill all small snails in the first couple of days.( very small floated to the top 1-2mm )
Then started to notice larger snails dead in large group at the front of the tank( 3-6mm ).
I am not saying that there could be another reason its just i have not done anything else to the tank that could kill in mass.
could you give another reason ?
i was just seeing if other people had the same experience.
After doing a major tank overhall last night .
Found the snails have not gone i have just lowered the population( you could be right )
Hopefully still lowering, snails seems not to be a main problem in my tank ( 2 loaches keep them check )
