Farlowella babies

I am trying to figure out how to successfully raise these fry. I have a pair that has spawned several times in the last few months, but I have been unable to raise the fry. So far, they appear to be doing good and appear to be eating algae that is in the tank as well as algae that is placed in the tank. Then at about 2 weeks of age, they die. The parents are in a 55 gallon tall tank and all other occupants have been removed except for a zebra pleco and a royal pleco both of which are in the 2-3 inch range. I have tried removing the fry and raising them in a seperate tank with the same results. Is there anyone who can direct me to some literature or who has had a successful experience raising these fry?

There are several here that can help, but need a bit more info. The 2 most commmon causes of death are starvation, and lack of current, at that age. Starvation normally doesn't show any noticeable symptoms because the fry are so thin anyway. Lack of current shows as a swelling of the stomach, and they may look like they never lost the yolk sac. Regardless of which, or even something else, more info is needed.

I haven't noticed any of these. I have observed the fry as they appear to be grazing on algae growing on the glass. I will get a detailed set of water parameters this week so I can compare these. This tank was housing Discus when the pair started to spawn.

Have you tried my advices on your question about this a few weeks ago? I managed to get nearly 100% survival rate when I did it like this.

Thanks Bernt. Somehow I missed this on the original posting. I will give this a try on the next spawning. I had thought about moving the parents to another tank in the back of our aquarium so that I could watch things more closely. ( I am a volunteer at our local zoo in the aquarium.)I didn't do this because I was afraid that I couldn't completely replicate the conditions in the aquarium.
