How many pairs !!!
I have a 6ft x 2ft x 3ft main display tank .
I am wondering will i start to have problems with my pairs of Ancistrus .
I have 2 pairs and 2 other females of Ancistrus
My problem is will they start cross breeding and will the males fight all the time .
There is no problems at the moment but i am getting some new fish soon !( pairing up the other females)

There is no need to obtain other males for those females, in my opinion. My males will spawn with at least 2 females per spawn, no problem. It will reduce your aggression levels in the tank, considerably. Without knowing what types of ancistrus, it's going to be impossible for us to tell you if you'll have to worry about interbreeding between the two.

G'Day WALL,
The so called 'A leucostictus' we have here is L110, we are pretty sure of that.
Our common bristle nose is just that, we have no idea what species, mine are direct descendants from fish imported in 1968, supposedly from Guiana ?????
I am not sure whether the albino bristle nose available at the moment are the same species. There seems to be a significant difference between the underlying pattern on the albinos and my normals. This remains to be proven though.
As for the risk of cross breeding, I doubt it. I have kept L110 and peppermints together, and common bristles with peppermints and in more than 30 years of keeping ancistrus have never had any cross breeding.
In fact some years ago I got a dozen common bristles from Victoria that I couldn't get to breed with mine thought I tried for two years. Then when they were all dumped in a 5x2x2 in disgust they sorted themselfs out and spawned. Which us to suspect that we may two different "tribes: of common bristle nose here in Australia.

When life gives you lemons ask for a bottle of tequila & salt.
The only danger I find in life is to take too many precautions, some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.
