Please, help me in L260 Queen Arabesque sexing..

Post by grihan »

Hi, I recently buyed 2 adult l260 ( I mean 10 cm long). When I put them in my 720l aquarium, they started to fight, and I had to separate them in two aquariums, because the fight was very wild, with strong bites too. People says that l260 are very pacific loricariidae.. hehe
So I think they are 2 males, but I want your help to sex them.
This is the first one...

and two photos from the second one...

Iâ??m quite sure you have two males, because of the abundant odontodes and the thick pelvic fin rays.

Males tend to have markings on their stomachs, females do not. At least that holds true with my 8 anyway. Heavy odontodes, brighter markings, wider heads in proportion to their bodies are all ways to differentiate the two sexes. There is an article on spawning them in Shane's World, also.
