Pregnant Bumblebee

Post by Sonia Green »

I have not long had my two Bumblebees, affectionately named Buzzle (F) and BB (M), but the female I am guessing is now pregnant, she has doubled her size in a week, and eats no more than the male. Does anyone have information on the breeding of these fish and how to keep them during pregnancy. I am going to get a hatchery, but am wondering if the male should go in with the female? Do they lay eggs for fertilising by the male or do they have live young? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Being new to this particular type of fish I don't want to do the wrong thing.
Kind Regards,

You would have to keep them together, at least until they spawn (the female lays eggs).
Try simulating the rainy season by doing a partial water change, and see if that would trigger them to spawn.

Hi, Do you know how long the female holds the eggs for before she spawns? I got a hatchery for them, but they just keep jumping out of it, I will be putting them in a separate tank tomorrow, once I can get a second heater.
Kind Regards,
