Parotocinclus spp

Post by philtre »

Hi peeps,

would anyone care to advise the ID of this little fella?
Image

At first thought they looked at little like p.spilosoma, but after looking at more pictures of these fellas, I wonder if they are indeed p/spilosoma.

Came across this japanese page
http://www010.upp.so-net.ne.jp/chamcham ... intoi.html
and wondered more so about the ID of the above-mentioned fish.

Would appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction for this one.

Thanks very much in advance,
phil

It looks more like P. haroldoi to me. Parotocinclus cesarpintoi does not have this coloer pattern (it's more of a mottled brown).

Have a read of http://www.planetcatfish.com/icosa/arti ... brazil.htm . I've only seen twice but they gave me the impression of having much more defined well spaces small yellow spots. The fish pictured above (a male?) looks less well defined in the spots department.

Hope these pics will help to confirm the ID as p.haroldi?
Thanks!

Hi Jools!

Thanks, read this article eons ago when I was hoping to come across some. Even after coming across some, I'm still hopeless at ID-ing these little fellas, besides the p.maculicauda and or the p.jumbo
PS: the pictures are numbered, but I dont see any reference with regards to the numbered pic?

The article was originally published in DATZ, whereby the images were numbered. I scanned them from that source and put the supporting text in the ALT tag so you see it when you point at the image.
