Will the Gold Nugget Plecos loose their spots?

Post by Anders »

Hello,
this is my first activity on this forum. I hope someone
out there can help me.

The local fish shop owner claims that the Gold Nugget plecos loose
their spots when they are adult. This counts for the small and medium
spot Nuggets (L081 and L085). The only one keeping it´s spots even
when adult, is the big spot Nugget, L177.

Since I bought 5 small spot Nuggets half a year ago, I sincerely hope this is
not true. Have anyone heard anything about this or even better, does anyone
have adult L081 still with spots.

I bought the L081 since they only grow to about 6-8", I thought. The same person
as above claims that they grow to the same size as the other two variants of Gold
Nugget plecos. Again I hope this isn´t true either. Does anyone know anything
about this?

Thanks for now!

Hi!
Don't worry they will not loose thei spot when growing , you will only have the feeling that they will get smaller. THe only thing they seem to "lose" is the yellow seam on the dorsal and caudal fins, but once again, they are just not changing of size while the fish grows, that is why it sort of look like they are "losing" them!!!
Cheers
