Got this from a peru shipment and have no idea what species it is.

This is suppose to be a new fish according to the importer. It's about 3 to 4 cm long. Total length.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

It looks like a Parotocinclus species and maybe these http://planetcatfish.com/catelog/lorica ... /808_f.php
Not exactly but the species on the PC pic looks like it's sick (ich).

Parotocinclus sp. 3 "peru"

And that's not ich on the fish. This species grows up to 3 cm only.

Nope, the fish in question doesn't have an adipose fin, whereas the suggested Parotocinclus has. It's closer to a Hypoptopoma than Parotocinclus IMO.

Looks like it might be Nannoptopoma, but I am too far away from my library to confirm right now.

Apparently it comes from the Rio Putumayo, and only shows these colours when young.

Do you mean that these specimens are young specimens? What would the adult specimen be? Any pictorial reference?

Thanks.
