hola

Post by ChrisM »

i've been a lurker of this site for some time.... mostly in the cat-elog, I'm new to the forums.

I'm a member of the Boston Aquarium Society and http://www.predatoryfish.net (I post with the same handle over there). Let me know if you're a member of either one.

My interest in cats is concentrated on loricariidae, but I do have a sterbia and two panda cories.

My L cats are as follows:

1x L-200
1x L-239
1x L-59
6x L-114
1x L-46
1x L-177
1x L-1
a "common" I haven't bothered to type
and a new one I just got this weekend. Flat, small dorsal fin, adonis looking-thing with massive pec spires. I haven't tried to figure him out yet.

You can tell by all those "1x" that I'm really not aimed at breeding. However, I got an awesome deal on those Pseudacanthicus leopardus and I'll see what happens after I grow them out.

I'm always in the market for more L-46, I know it's cliche... but they're the best. I'd love to put together a breeding colony, but I refuse to pay the massive prices they are now commanding. The cost has to drop.

I guess my first question is which is a better book 1) DATZ L-nummern 2) Aqualog all L-numbers.

When I think of trusted books for fish, I think of Aqualog... but I believe DATZ started the whole L-number thing. So, what gives? I've found the the web to be more than adequate, but now and feel like getting a book.

hi Chris

The best book in my opinion is DATZ Lnumbers special (i just received a copy yesterday) and it is most informative and correct for ID,Biotope and diet purposes.Aqualog all Lnumbers (which i also own) does contain many ID errors etc,but it is still a very handy book to have.
If you are just plumping for one book i would choose the DATZ special.

Cheers
Lisa
