Does anyone know how long Merodontotus tigrinus can survive in an aquarium

I gather 12" specimens fair badly and rarely take to eating, but in the days of more juvenile imports, can anyone speak of success

There of lots of people who are having success with these today.

There is a guy on here called Katfishguy who has 4 together.. the largest is about 24inches long!!! He has had lots of them and they seem to do really well.

The smaller ones seem to do well as they can be shipped more easily and seem to take to prepared/frozen food more readily.

I keep Juruense.. and the key to these big pims seems to be large tanks and plenty of good filtration.

actually, I got a foot long tigrinus from Frybabies that was in excellent condition and is extremely easy to feed. I've gotten it to eat earthworms occasionally but it is happy with pellet foods, things like sinking carnivore pellets, shrimp pellets and even bottom feeder discs from tetra or marineland, it's favorite food would have to be bay scallops though. I never had the slightest bit of trouble with it's health or it's feeding, he is now hand feeding occasionally, but I wish his aim was a bit better, about once a week he latches onto a finger or thumb instead of the food, and soaks me on a fairly regular basis. short vid of him taking a salad shrimp not long after he arrived. http://scott.aaquaria.com/videos/tigrinusfeeding.mov
