new to synos

29g Tang cichlid community tank. Waiting to set up 90g similar tank. Gravel substrate, lots of hiding places. Ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates <30, Ph 8.3. I have done a good deal of reading about syno petricola, but just got my first two this week (Tanzania Giant Variant), so I have little practical experience. The first couple of days they were pretty active, even more than I expected. But now they have settled into their hiding places and are far less mobile. Is this normal? Just trying to learn and be sure to properly keep these fish. Thanks.

IMO they would be MUCH happier and more active in a larger group. The behavior they exhibit when they are comfortable and feel like they have enough company is quite a bit different than you will see with just a few of them. I usually recommend 6 or more. They're well worth the investment, I promise. They're a great fish. Congrats on your new addiction! ;)
