Sterbai spawned
I have 9 C.Sterbai set up in two 10 gallon tanks (4 and 5). Last night (full moon, storm coming) I did a 50% water change. Vola! Eggs scatterd in both tanks this morning. I removed the adults to two 29 gallon tanks and added some formalin to the water in the 10s ... hopefully the eggs will hatch.
QUESTIONS -
Are the Sterbai done spawning, or can I expect more eggs?
Can I remove the eggs from the sides of the aquariums after 24 and hatch them in a smaller tank, or should I leave them alone?
Thanks

Personally we leave the adults and remove the eggs...
So you can roll the eggs off the sides of tanks if you want.
We, when removing eggs from adult tank, place them on the sides of containers. It seems to help keep eggs cleaner.
Once the Sterbai started spawning, they have spawned every every other to every 3rd day...
Keep us posted on fry progress.
Happy hatching

If there are more than a dozen eggs I would move the adults. I always have trouble with C. sterbai when I take the eggs away. Another thing I sometimes do if the adults are not bothering with the eggs, would be to leave them together until the end of the third day after the spawning took place, then carefully remove them.

OK ... It's been almost 2 weeks, and I have over 100 Sterbai fry growing very well in a 10 gallon tank with 2 large 4x4x4 Sponge filters ... feeding baby brine 2x daily. Moved about a dozen and put them in 2 tanks with Betta fry (figured they help clean up the bottoms). I'll post pixs soon.
Now hopefully my Ancistrus will spawn ... then I can move on to my C. Trilineatus!
