Info on L-30 Parancistrus?
I just bought a 2" L-30 Parancistrus, I was wondering if anyone has any information on these guys other than what's in the cat-e-log....regarding diet (more meaty? driftwood addict?) and other conditions, thanks!
I just got one myself about a month ago. It's been VERY hard to find info on these guys.
They are extremely shy and do not come out at all in my tank. I bought a piece of driftwood for him and he hides underneath it during the daytime. The driftwood is shaped like a little cave, so I'm not sure if he "eats" the wood, or just uses it for cover, or both. Good thing is, the driftwood is near the front of the tank and I can see him during the daytime, but he never leaves that spot. Maybe peeks out once in a while, but moves back in if he sees me there.
I really don't know what they eat yet either. Each night I drop in an algae wafer and a shrimp pellet each night. I did find some info on some other forum that they like more meaty foods, however, one time as I turned on the light in the room, I found him very close to one of the algae wafers. He seems to be doing fine so far.
One thing I do know is that they are territorial. I bought a Bristlenose a week or two after I bought the L30. Everytime the Bristlenose gets in the "cave", the L30 chases him out. He doesn't go out of his way to chase him though. The BN can be on top of the wood and the L30 won't do anything. It's just when the BN goes under the wood. Besides the BN, the L30 is fine with all the other fish. One of my Zebra Loaches even sleeps in the cave with him. It's funny because the loach goes right up against the pleco. Kinda looks like they are cuddling
I am making a moonlight for my tank this week though. So I should be able to observe some more of the L30's behavior. I'll let you know if I find out some more info.
