- Update - Ictalurus Punctatus (Channel Catfish)

Post by ItamaeChef »

As some of you will remember a few weeks ago I had a critical situation where my catfish suddenly became extremely sick. After many discussions on exactly what kind of catfish he was and all of his symptoms the community was greatly helpful and supportive.

I am now very pleased to say that he has made a near full recovery. All of his "Ick" spots have vanished and the lacerations around his gills have almost completely regrown.

He's now been switched over to a steady diet of shrimp pellets, frozen brine shrimp, whole frozen shrimp, and ciclid sticks (SP?). I am working on getting some good worms also.

He's back to acting like his old self and I'm thinking of treating him to some new additional cover in his tank so that he can "hide" a little better. Everyone's help truly saved my catfish. My 6 year old buddy, my wife, and I myself thank you all.

Oh I thought he would be several feet by now if he was 6 years old.

Unfortunetly he'd been living in a tank a little too small for him before we actually realized how big he would be getting. So, we upgraded him to a larger tank.

Right now he's got a 50 gal. all to himself.
