L134 sexing

Do females L134 have brushes on the fins? Or is the female completely naked?
Why do they change color so often? Is it because i have two males perhaps?

is a male. am i right?

Hi,

this is probably a male fish. The males also have oodontes at both sides of the body, increasing towards the tale (what we do not see in you picture, perspective ?).

Although it's in german, the pictures will speak for themselves.

It's a beautifull fish, you show. Are you shure, this is 134 ? Seems a little bit to flat to me, l134 also shows slightly different yellow/black patter (obviously it varies very much!)

i'm not sure if it's a 134. That's what i tought when i first saw the fish. Doe anyone have any other in mind?

If this is the male, then i'm stuck up with two males. But in two weeks my fishstore has a new import. I'll check for females.

maybe youÂ´ve got some other pictures of your fish.
On this picture the "L 134" really seems to be quite "flat"...

BTW: in the new Aqualog there are also many different pictures of L 134 in different examples of coloration.

Hi, i would suggest something of the "butterfly-group", e.g. L168 ??

I really wonder about this very bright coloration, that I have never seen in im my L134, even when they were young. And the black-yellow pattern a different from L134, compare to these japanes pictures. ANd it's relatively flat, but seems to bee in good condition.

Don't worry about the correct name, it's really a nice fish. I would be fine getting some females !

Here in germany they sold "orange butterfly's", even very bright yellow in the pet shop tank. This species remains me a little to this.

I think, it's a male. (L168 has less oodonts than L134). What's it's size ?

Hello,

I agree with the Zonancistrus id. However I'm not sure which one since my monitor is on the fritz right now. On that topic though, Transfish has L168 listed as Zonancistrus brachyurus. Does anyone know if this is confirmed as the species? or is it just opinion. The catelog still has nothing for a species name yet.

According to CLOFFSCA, Zonancistrus brachyurus (Kner, 1854) is now Dekeyseria brachyura (Kner, 1854).

Thank you for noticing that i have l168 instead l134. Indeed it is . That's why they change color so often. I love the fish. i keep them with two (males

) but a friend has three with his discus.

Still we are sure that this is a male? because i have another slightly bigger, with more pectoral oodontes and the bigger one is less colored .. most of the time.
otherwise i have to find us some females, because if this is a male,.... we have 5 males.

sorry Joern,. The fish is about 8 cm,. the other that i have is slightly bigger 9.5 cm perhaps?

hope you could get some females ! Most L168 I have seen don't show thie bright colors. Would be nice to breed them.

OK, according to Armbruster its Dekeyseria, according to IsbrÃ¼cker its Zonancistrus, former it was Dekeyseria, any reason discussing the never ending story again? ;)
