Post by Hayklo »

Can Scleromystax barbatus live with cherry shrimp or will the cherry shrimp be eaten?

I've never kept cherry shrimp, but my son tried keeping ghost shrimp with and the corys ate the ghost shrimp.

I don't think I'd recommend combining with cherry shrimp.

Hopefully someone with more direct experience can offer advice.

Cheers,
Eric

My young Scleromystax arrived with a hitchhiker small cherry shrimp in one of the bags. I assume they were living with them from the breeder I bought them from. After a couple of days however the shrimp disappeared and there was no dead body so I think it was eaten. I don't know if they'd eat the adults but I think they'd eat any babies. If you really want shrimp maybe try the larger Amano shrimp - they are a bit more resilient to predation in my experience.
