Re: Catfish Photography
Awesome possum. I've uploaded the Jag pics. I think (if I've remembers my "socials" correctly) in those cool new fishes is a flat pleco from the Orincoco.
It is highly cool, please take many pictures.
Cheers,
Jools
PS I look forward to seeing Haakon again in March - maybe you could accompany him?

Re: Catfish Photography
I think you might be right, but I didn't manage to take pictures of it. It was a really ordinary looking pleco, right? But quite the cool species still?
Anyway, another species before I travel out in the North Sea to do some science stuffs.
This catfish was just named Loicaria sp. "colombia", but I discussed it a bit with Haakon and he recons it was recently described. If so, please provide a name for me Possibly this thing?

Re: Catfish Photography
Yes, "the crying whiptail". These pictures look a lot like but it should be the species you mentioned. Did you, want any chance, get a picture of the mouth?
Cheers,
Jools

Re: Catfish Photography
Yes, one for the catfish hardcore. A stupidly dull-looking pleco that is only cool to cool catfish people. I use the term "cool people" advisedly but perhaps specialist nerds is a bit more expressive.
I hope the North Sea is not too harsh - it's been a little stormy here.

Re: Catfish Photography
We actually decided to stay in the Norwegian fjords for an extra day or two just because of the weather, so I still have enough cover to post some more photos.
No, unfortunately no photos of the mouth of the animal. I'll ask Haakon if he found some more info regarding that catfish.
Anyway, here is another species: Common Whiptail Catfish ()

Re: Catfish Photography
It's definitely , despite a certain resemblance to Spatuloricaria. They are tank breds from the Czech Republic

Now we are talking, this really is a nice fish that is rare and will look stunning when adult.
Hope Haakon keeps one or two in the big tank on display.

Thats possibly the smallest P. granulosus I have ever seen. If you should happen to have a decent lateral shot, let me know please, I have use for one.

Of course! I’m going back to do a second round of shoots on Wednesday next week. Just flick me a PM within then with what you’ll use the image for and if possible an example of how you want the shotAcanthicus wrote: ↑22 Mar 2024, 10:44 Thats possibly the smallest P. granulosus I have ever seen.
