Partially influenced by Shanes post and seen quite a few people in the past with pet plecos.
I thought I'd introduce one of my fishes, she has no name I don't generally name things.
I never really had them till I kept Baryancistrus and even then most of mine are a little more secretive.
I've had them since 2019 but I certainly have a favourite now, I've had her since 2021. She's nasty, no one enters her space and she will take on anything that wont swim away fast enough. Like any Baryancistrus house moves are now a case of a polybox with caves, bags are an easy target and I can't have a box per fish.
The drama doesn't stop with her hate for others, she is a diva with food and unless it's Repashy it has to be the right courgette otherwise it wont get touched, she'll also aggressively attack mushrooms.
At the end of the day we all have that one fish, the one that makes themselves known.
I find the genus generally keeps to their space and rarely roams excluding juveniles but this girl will explore a little more.
I don't just keep Baryancistrus for their personality, their dietary niche is fascinating and that branch of Hypostominae contains a few interesting and maybe underrated beyond the vivid colours some display. Ancistrus still fascinates me the most but as a group it's so difficult to find quite a few of them, much more secretive as well.
