Hello, Havnt been around for a while, but have a question regarding one of my c batrachus.
He's re- developed a rather nasty infection, hes had this on and off since ive had the poor thing almost a year now.
He is about 10" sl approximately 15 months old, has lost about 30% of dorsal fin and shows damage to most other fins, looks like rot as there is no sign of aggression from the others. He also has an open wound about 1.5" long an 0.5 inches wide on his flank, some fungal infection on the tail fin.
Someone metioned it may have been an aeromonas infection. Has any one had any experiences treating this. I have cleared the problem up on two previous occasions.
This fish seems to have always been rather weak for a clarias, has always been a fussy eater, will only eat the cheapest catfish pellets and refuses to touch anything else, even denying him this food and feeding with only better quality foods or frozen bloodworm he seems to prefer starvation, and has lost a lot of weight. This though is probably due to the infection as much as anything else.
Temp = 25 celcius
pH = 7.5 (app)
nitrate < 15
amonia < undetectable

I would try Interpet Anti-Fungus and Finrot, which is easy to get. Despite its name it is also strongly anti-bacterial. Fungal diseases and bacterial diseases (e.g. Aeromonas) are easily confused.
Also add some aquarium salt to reduce loss of electrolytes from the injured areas.
