My Fish Room
My fish room is in my basement and measures 16ft x 12ft. There is a drain in the center of the room and a shower with drain in the back corner and a cold water tap as well. I am currently running 15 tanks with a S. and C. America, Asia and Africa represented.

My source is a local hobbyist. He does sell on aquabid though. I can ask what his moniker is.

Re: My Fish Room
Nice! Are they seeming to prefer any sort of hides more than others? I see in the pictures it looks like a few might prefer to hide under the bamboo tubes, or maybe they were just the last to the party and so don't have a tube to claim?

Re: My Fish Room
I have bamboo and diy fired clay pleco caves and they use both. I think the two that are hiding under the bamboo are just unwilling to swim up to the elevated openings. They will cram into the same cave as others but not always appreciated. I see the striped come out at feeding time but the spotted are much more reclusive. I have yet to see the largest spotted out of its preferred hide.OregonOutdoorsChris wrote: ↑30 Mar 2022, 21:59 Nice! Are they seeming to prefer any sort of hides more than others? These pics are after I rescaped with the crypts which came out of a 55g. I often use dirt in my planted tanks with a fiberglass screen barrier under the sand/gravel. Makes removing excess plants a pain but if I want a mat of established plants in a geophagus tank it's great.

Prepping for the addition of a linear air pump. Loops around the perimeter of the room. I just need to drill and add valves and an air pump. Just finished as the lights started turning off.

Re: My Fish Room
That was one of the best things I did with my fish room, air ring and a linear piston air pump.
So much cheaper than multiple power filters, both to purchase and to run, yes it is a single point of failure, but just make sure you have a spare, and/or a service kit and you should be ok.
Hope it goes well when you get it up an running.

Picked up the new air supply, JEHMCO diaphragm pump DAPMH30, for the fish room and it is sooooo cool. Way more air than I need.

The second Hoplo to enter the view is malformed. The head is more arrow shaped and sunken across the top.

Re: My Fish Room
I moved the three Akysis prashadi to the pea puffer 29g so that the c. eques tank will be S. American. The 2 parrot doradids are in with the eques. I still need to catch the kooli loach.
Careful hand catching catfish. One of the a. Prashadi stung me and my finger throbbed for a bit.

I'm not sure if the red is stress or just normal coloring as this one came in this way.

It also looks to me like the fish's eye is cloudy. I might suspect an infection of some sort.

I think their improving. I did a manual removal of the fungus a few days or so ago for the Hoplo. Doesn't seem to be coming back. Raph is losing the red coloring.
