Panaque suttonorum

Post by JasonGoneFishing »

Confirmation on if this is a true Panaque suttonorum or the others from upper magdalena. I was already told what it is, but want to get it out in the open. I was told most likely P. cochliodon

Comments here at PC "The Colombian blue eye panaque (which may include this upper Magdalena population) and the Venezuelan blue eye panaque are similar in gross morphology and color. Both have lunate caudal fins, a uniformly gray to black body, and blue eyes. Lujan, Hidalgo, and Stewart (2010) theorize that the two are sister species."

Just to be clear on Dave's excellent comments. The two sister spp. are (Described from Cauca) and (from the rivers into the Maracaibo). We have ("old blue eyes" ;-) ) as a different, third, species.
