L226 Vs L204 eating question
L226 (Panaqolus changae) versus L204 (Panaqolus albivermis) eating question.
Both the above are wood-eating plecs.
I have recently re-homed my L204's due to the amount of wood they eat and the amount of poop they excrete.
I was forever cleaning the aquarium and cleaning my external filters.
It was a bit too much for me due to a disability.
My question:
Are L226 (Panaqolus changae) as prolific wood-eaters as L204 (Panaqolus albivermis) ?
In other words, are L226 (Panaqolus changae) as messy as the L204 (Panaqolus albivermis) ?
A: L226 are as messy as L204
B: L226 are as less messy than L204 (if so by how much are they less messy ?)
C: L226 are more messy than L204
I have an opportunity of obtaining L226 (Panaqolus changae) but I do not want the amount of cleaning that I previously had with the L204 (Panaqolus albivermis), hence the question.
My aquarium is themed so no alternative to be considered.
Thank you

Re: L226 Vs L204 eating question
Although I have not kept these two species, from my experience with several other Panaqolus I think it’s safe to say they’re all messy. I consider a prefilter over the inlet of external filters a must with them.

Probably the same. I haven't kept changae, but all the Panaqolus I've kept are messy.

Not familiar with L226 or L204 but my L104 P. Maccus were incredibly messy. I would imagine these two to be the same.
Did you say “CATFISH!?” I’m in.

Re: L226 Vs L204 eating question
Thank you for the replies, appreciated.
I suspected they would be equally messy, just wanted to check.
Seems like I won't be stocking the L226 (Panaqolus changae).
Thanks
Stephen
