Hi Jools,
Every time I open a photo in the CLOG, the pics are oriented to the right. This occurs even though on the clog page, all the thumbnails face left as they should.
sorry, Eric

Maybe this is related? When on my android phone, pictures seem to overlap in the CLOG.

Hi Marc,
I'm not sure it's related, but my android phone does not show the pics overlapping on CLOG pages. That said, you're not the first person to experience overlapping pictures.
Cheers, Eric

Those overlapping pictures are due to the browser not using the latest files from the site (specifically, the style sheets). A hard refresh will fix it. This error was introduced late December, as part of some changes to make videos responsive (look good on mobiles) - videos in the clog, forum and articles. As I say, it's fixed, but will need to hard refresh the page. This will fix itself over time, but to do it immediately, you'll need to google to find out how to do it on a specific browser/device combination.

Should have tried that before posting, it works fine now, thanks Jools!Jools wrote: ↑04 Jan 2021, 10:28 Those overlapping pictures are due to the browser not using the latest files from the site (specifically, the style sheets). Hi Eric,
Apologies, I've had a look at this and I can't find an example image where the fish faces right. Can you give me an example or screenshot, please?
Cheers,
Jools

@Jools look at the Aquarium Rack thread. Some photos sideways, some upside down, but when you click on them to make them larger they are correct.

Re: Is it just me? or is PCF swiping... err, flipping... all pics right?
@Shane, the upside-down and sides-flipping photos in preview (before clicking on them) in forum posts has been happening intermittently for a while (months at least). It happens seeminlgy randomly, as for sure it is not consistent (e.g., it did happen to at least one of your photos in my Microglanis thread - specifically the Galvis et al page picture, but it didn't happen to any of the photos I uploaded in the very next post).
@Jools, I see it inconsistently. I find it has happened to photos in the CLOGS (the thumbnails are left-facing but when clicked on, the full pics are right-facing), and I see it in the new photos (e.g., ) and in old pics of and . However, I don't see it occuring in a photo I recently uploaded of and I don't see it in other more recent photos, nor in old photos (e.g., I don't see it on the first photo of .
Confusing - Is it just a problem with the Pseudopimelodidae? Could it be a file type issue? (png vs jpg?) Could it be related to whatever code you had in place on the day the pics were uploaded? It is not a matter of hard-refreshing, because I tried that and it didn't correct the problem for me.
Cheers, Eric

Re: Is it just me? or is PCF swiping... err, flipping... all pics right?
Guys,
There are two very different things here. The first which Shane mentions above involved uploading files into the forum from a smartphone (as opposed to from a computer) where the forum doesn't take into account all the fancy things phones do to compensate for the fact that humans use them in any orientation for different tasks. Happy to track that issue, but I know it's a huge topic over at the PhpBB forum development forums. They've been talking about it for years - seems like their equivalent of our hybrid Ancistrus thread(s). Anyway, what I have in place ensures that the full-size image always displays correctly. Maybe what I should do is make the thumbnail smaller so folks use the full-size image more.
Second thing is what Eric was mentioning (this thread) which is a much simpler / less involved issue. I have found it specifically being a problem with this: https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/im ... e_id=15491
So, will look into fixing that for now!

OK, so the "fish is facing right" issue should be fixed. By all means post an "image uploaded as attachments" aren't the correct orientation, and I'll have a look at it. Might be a slow burner that one...

Yes, the facing right CLOG pics seem to be fixed. Thanks.

I just uploaded 8 pics from my phone into my Micgroglanis thread (viewtopic.php?p=328650#p328650), and I noticed both of the photos which I simply took and uploaded now flip 90deg when viewed. But the other 6 pics, which I edited and then resaved on my phone do not perform that rotation. I recognize that the problem has already been identified and discussed ad nauseum on the PhpBB forum, but if this observation helps, more power to all.
Cheers, Eric
