New to cats

Hi,i am new to this forum,i have bronze cories (24)in two 260 litre planted tanks.i could do with some advice on feeding,some say feed wafers,some say pellets ,others say tablets and the amounts to feed also vary,i find it confusing and just want to do right for my cats.i joined this forum for advise from you specialists so any help greatly received. Thank you!

Bronze corys will eat most prepared foods that sink. Tablets, pellets or wafers based on flake food are a good staple, avoid foods for vegetarian leaning fishes. The general rule is feed two or three three times a day no food should be left after about 15 minutes. If there is, you are feeding too much or the wrong stuff. It can take a week to ten days for a species to accept a new food. I'm a fan of providing frozen bloodworm a few times a week for my corys.

I like to rotate feed mine.

My feeding regime:

Omega One Shrimp Pellets
Omega One Flakes
Fluval Bug Bites
Northfin Carnivore Pellets (1 pellet feeds entire shoal)
Frozen Bloodworm/Brine Shrimp/Mysis Shrimp (once weekly)
Algae wafers as a treat twice a month
Raw shrimp ground up into tiny bites as a rare treat once a month.

One thing to bear in mind, is that the brands of foods, and to a much lesser degree, the types of prepared foods available in different markets are different. I'm not sure about the first four being available in the UK for example.

Yep theyre all different
The shrimp pellets are large sinking sticks.
The bug bites are small granules/crumbles
The carnivore pellet is a single large pellet, like a wafer but its meat not veggie.
Flakes are flakes.
And the frozen foods.


Brand isn't super important, just check ingredients and be sure there's more meat/fish/insects to them than vegetable


You guys in the UK are lucky, you can buy bloodworm pellet sticks! I'd love some of those to use as a treat with mine as well. But theyre not available to me here in Canada.

I have had earthworm sticks and other foods sent to me from the US.Or I pick them up from a friend in Spokane, and I live in Canada as well.
Also look for a local Aquarium Club, you will find all kinds of connections for foods, fish and anything else you need. Where are you located?

I can get earthworm sticks, but ive searched and seems *bloodworm* sticks are mostly a UK thing.

I'm located southern Ontario. I'm involved with my local club too, I also do live food cultures too.

It was more of a luxury vs a necessity about the bloodworm sticks haha

I am not a big fan of most commercial foods. I think brand matters in some cases. For example, I mostly would buy Hikari for frozen, However, I doscovered that Jehmco is a cheaper and a safe source if one buys in bulk.

I do feed some commercial even though I try to minimize the frequency. kensfish does sell a usable variety of sinking sticks. They come in two sizes and two qualities. I buy the following (all in the mini size and mostly the premium version):
Bloodworm sticks
Earthworm sticks
Brine shrimp sticks
Vegetable sticks
Soldier Fly larvae sticks
Mysis Sticks
Multiworm sticks
I also use his veggie sticks w/ calcium for shrimp.
(Note the above vary in where the desired and the less desired ingredients may fall in the list.)

However, my two primary foods are the Hikari/Jehmco frozen and Repashy. I consider these as close to live as one can get without being live.
