Good Spawn of L-240
So, this 3rd spawn of the L-240 has been much more successful than the first two. I added an additional filter with built in UV, and not a single egg was lost, as far as i can tell. I removed most of the babies today, but left about 30 in the cave with dad. As far as i can tell, the total number is TNTC !

Holy cow! That's a crud-ton (as we say) of fry! Congratulations on the improved success. Will these little ones be at Catfish Con?
Cheers, Eric

Thanks Eric!
I plan to bring some to every convention I can, and I certainly think I will be able to have enough. Now to grow them out.

Wow that is amazing! Congrats!
I also recently purchased a breeding group of these beautiful pleco's and am hoping to also breed em one day.
Can you tell us more about your breeding tank setup and water parameters?

Re: Good Spawn of L-240
Thanks Mario!
Sure....I have 7 fish in a 90 gallon tall, tank. 3 bigger fish, and 4 half their size and nowhere near ready to breed. The tank is bare bottom (but painted on the outside), with a lot of caves and hiding places (i will try and take a photo of the tank, and upload it, but right now the lights are off). There are a few floating plants, and a small piece of driftwood. They spawn in a homemade clay cave, that in my opinion was a big too big for them. Often, the female had her head towards the opening, and the male was in the traditional orientation, so they would "69", but I am not sure of their ultimate position during the spawns. They would be in and out of the cave over a period of days leading up to the spawn. Temp about 82. The water was medium hardness and a pH of about 6.8. I do not use RO.
I have 3 filters on the tank....two filstars, and one additional canister with an internal UV added, which is what gave me i think a near 100% hatch rate. I estimate about 250 babies that are now about 6 months old.
I found a pic i took a while back. The spawning cave is the whitish one on the left with a nice coat of green algae.

I would definitely like to buy a few of your l240’s if possible. Do you ship?
