Possible True L144

Post by JasonGoneFishing »

I'm importing this "l144" in here soon. Males are yellow/gold and females are brown from what the exporter told me. Came from Region of meta, River Metica, Colombia. Is it possible its a true L144 even though the one came from Paraguay?

Hi

It can not be the true L 144, since this variety is linked to the area it was found in first. Also it is pretty much impossible that it is the same species as L 144.

There is a pattern visible on the fins, that makes me assume they will not keep this colour but turn into brownish specimens with the typical pattern and colouration. Will be interesting to see how many you get in this colouration and how they will change in captivity.

So far they have been in captivity for 5 months and still the same color no matter if on glass or substrate.

I suggest dont use that designation until not just you, but certain others are absolutely sure.
L144 is confusing enough for most, without adding to the confusion.
