Not a Catfish but may live with them

Hi, I was watching a video last week and they showed some Sewellia Lienolata or Hillstream Loaches. My wife fell in love and want some. The question is this: Can I have it with my corys? I think they can it just depends of the cory species. Right?

I know people who do it successfully, but I always worry the corys will harass the loaches.

I once combined a Botia horae with Corydoras. It died soon.

Another thing is, hillstream loaches really require a lot of current in their tank. More than most Corydoras would appreciate.

As with most things it depends on the specifics. Some corys live in flowing water, some live in still. If you aquascape with rounded pebbles and open areas of sand, and try clearwater Corydoras paleatus or Scleromystax barbatus (for example) - this will work if that tank is mature enough to add the loaches (for me, 3-month min. preferabaly much longer). Bear in mind however that both species should be kept in numbers, so you need a disproportionally larger tank than if you wanted to keep one or the other.

Thanks a lot. I must admit that it never crossed my mind that a Cory would harass any other fish. I would rather get another tank than to risk any fish. Here cat's are #1, #2, #3. You know what this means? No, wait I can see it but is a bit cloudy, now is clearing. Yes, it is clear now, another is coming tank. Those loaches are kind of cute, I like them and for what I can see will reproduce easy enough to see back to the store.
