Hi
I wonder if the "shyness" of some of the royals have any connection to the fact that some of them have red eyes - just like albinos have red eyes and they can't handle the sun. I know that the red-eyes-royals is not an albino but could there be a connection between red eyes and "shyness"? I've also heard that L191 (Green Royal) is not as shy as the L027/L190; could the reason be that L191 doesn't have red eyes?
Just a guess...

It seems to me that his color and pattern is a sort of camouflage...could even change color rapidly and blend in with his surroundings...his red eyes have infra-red capabilities...able to see a warm-blooded hand with a net just before it swooshes in to catch him...his sleek and aerodynamic/hydrodynamic whatever body enables him to do a dash for cover within a split second whenever he senses danger...that's why he's bold enough to go wherever he wants...
ahhh...well maybe NOT

M not sure. The stripes at the mid section of our fish are not very distinct. Ours look a bit fuzzy at the mid section. Both suggested photos shown are.
Could they be the ones here perhaps on the last photo?:

BTW, mine look exactly like yours. I have two of them and they are similar in patterning as yours. Anyone know what this specie or L # this is?

Mike D.
