Big & Little Plecos

Post by danielpblue »

I'm having the problem all fish keepers have and I'm out of space in my fishroom. Was looking to see if anyone has ever mixed 9" L124 (Para Plecos) and 3" L129 in a 125G Aquarium with high flow and alot of caves. There would be several caves that the smaller plecos could only fit in. There is a school of dither tetras in the currently......

Any comments would be appreciated if you have done this or similar.

Hi danielpblue,

You didn't mention how many of each you want. But if only a few, then in terms of sheer tank space, you should be fine as long as the tank is not some crazy narrow tall dimensional tank.

As for dispositions of the two species, that I don't know because I've never kept . I've had for several years. I find them a bit shy and subject to bullying by more aggressive fish. If P. sabaji is more of a pushy species, I'd probably avoid the combination, but if it's an easy going pleco, they should be fine.

Keep in mind that H. debilittera is a warmer water fish than P. sabaji (but their temperature ranges do overlap) so choose temperature appropriately.

Good luck, Eric
