Can anyone tell me exactly what kind of bullheads these are? And if they are male or female. They are a year and a half old and about 8-10 inches long

They are yellow bullheads (). Bit hard to sex from the photo, though.

Why do they call them yellow when they are brown? The one is alot bigger than the other one I don't know if that is a factor in these fish in alot of fish it is.

Why do they call them yellow when they are brown?
Aren't common names fun?

The bigger one may just be getting more to eat. I wouldn't use size as a reliable indicator of sex.

They are really cool to watch and the fact that I have had them since they were only like an inch long, it has been fun to see them grow. Another question, how much bigger are they gonna get and how long do they live?

They are fun. I have one myself that was given to me as a little tike of 1.5" (it's now about 7" or so).

The latin name Ameiurus Natallis is purple when ever you see words like that in the middle of a sentence click on the words and it will take you to a link.
