Hello all,
I managed to snag an L56 today. Only a little guy. About 1.5" SL, and still grey all around.
The species profile here has some basic info, but this is definitely the most expensive fish I've purchased and I want to keep it happy. Are there any specific parameters or foods that people have noticed their L56 tend to prefer? I'm hoping I can get mine to turn gold as I've read the fish do it at will and not just with age.
Thanks!

Hi there, congratulations with your new fishy friend!
I keep and breed mine in warm water (28-30°/82.4-86F) with neutral parameters (Ph7, Kh3, conductivity around 300µ). Give them lots of hiding places (not only caves) with wood, stones or slate. Regulair waterchanges will keep them nice and healthy. Make sure you add an air stone to your tank because these fish need lots of oxygen rich water! For feeding I use Repashy. Mainly the herbivore formulas but I add some of the carnivore formulas to it, they are omnivores with a tendency towards herbivore foods. Good luck and enjoy!

Awesome, thanks for the tips! I added a ton of caves and crevices, and he seems to have staked out an area for himself that's pretty far from any of the other plecos' caves. My pH runs about 6.8. The water in the tank stays pretty soft as well. Here's hoping he does well!
