Cannot stay logged in on Mac OS
This has been going on for some time now, but I cannot stay logged in to the forums in Mac OS, either in Safari or Firefox. When I log in to post, I get the login prompt again when I click "submit". Logging in then takes me back to the forum index, and if I try to post again, then the whole irritating process repeats itself.

Are you running anything to prevent or limit cookies? These are what control this function. For example, running Chrome in incognito mode (or private mode as its called in Safari and Firefox) will cause this.
That'd be the first thing I'd check.

Re: Cannot stay logged in on Mac OS
I never use private browsing, and cookies are set as accepted from the site. I tried clearing browser cache and cookies to fix this problem, but it doesn't work.

It is still happening, although I do not have to log in as many times to post (only twice now). Guess I'll have to live with this.

Doesn't work, and the strange thing is that every time I log in from inside a thread, I get taken back to the forum index.

Re: Cannot stay logged in on Mac OS
I'm having some smaller issue's with loggin in. I can't select the option "remember me" because when I use the automatic dropbox the Mac gives me to log in it immediately takes me to the forum. So I have to log in every single time I visit the site. Even opening a second tab on my Mac I need to log in again on the site, it doesn't remember that I'm already logged in.
I tried selecting "remember me" first and then logging in but that doesn't work either.
Just a minor issue...

Re: Cannot stay logged in on Mac OS
Are you guys using bookmarks to get to the pages that you are having problems with? I had the same issues when connecting with my bookmarks and realized that they were still connecting using http instead of https. Just something to maybe check.
Safari 12.1 auto-submits forms when filling credentials with Password AutoFill. Checking "Remember Me" first should take care of this if you are on an https page.

I have to say the problem extends into logging in with iOS.

The recent v3.2.7 forum upgrade may improve or resolve the issue. Once it's installed, can you report back please?

Silurus came up with the great idea of emailing me a video of the issue. If anyone else is able to do this, please do, it would help me better understand. Either upload to YouTube and/or email it to me direct as suits.

Automatically logging me out.
Hi,
I just logged on and everytime i go to the "my stuff" bar i hover on it but when i press on "my fish" or "my breeding log" and probably all of them i am automatically logged out. This happens over and over again.
Just a heads up to let someone know and to see if anyone else is experiencing this.
Thanks

Thanks for reporting. So, I've made a change which will help anyone who has experienced this issue for the first time in the past 48 hours or so. It remains to be seen if it fixes the longer problem.

Sounds related, but for me using Chrome at work (Win 7), every time I visit the site via my bookmark (www.planetcatfish.com/forum/index.php) Ineed to log in. If I tick remember me, it still happens every time. I've just tried it and still happening - alli have to do is close the browser and re-open and I'm logged out when I open the link. And if I click on the link from this post it re-opens the site and I need to log in again!
I'll check on my mac as think it was happening there as well.
Thanks
Martin

I've made a few changes of late and, for a while, this was an issue. It's fixed now but it's to do with cookies and so can stay screwed up for a while or until you clear out cookies.
How is it now?

Re: Cannot stay logged in on Mac OS
I am going to leave it well alone (well, the cookie stuff) for a while now as I am completely sure it is setup correctly.
What I might do is create an option to keep users logged in by default.

Re: Cannot stay logged in on Mac OS
I have recently had the opportunity to try this out of the box, on a new Mac and on a fresh iPhone. I find that the site stays in just fine. The only thing I can think this could be is something external to what I can control (e.g. how you connect to the internet (or rather how your ISP works), configuration etc). You could also look at not auto-login to the site so that you can tick the "keep me logged in" box. But, I'm afraid, from a site/coding perspective there is not much more I can do.
