New Photo Contest Round
The new photo contest round will be accepting entries through the 31st of January. Rusty has been working hard on the permanent script for the continued monthly editions, and he assures me it will be ready by then. We have a 6 entries so far, so please get out those cameras and get to taking pictures! Submissions can be mailed to photocontest@planetcatfish.com. Please remember to submit your name, username, make of camera, and species of catfish with your entry.
A recap of the rules:
1. All pictures must be of Catfish! (Dead or alive, already in the Cat-elog or not) One picture per member, per contest please.
2. All pictures must be no larger than a maximum dimension of 640 pixels, and be less than 300K in filesize. (This is an important one!)
3. There will be a 2 week entry period. The voting period will last for 2 weeks. Any pictures submitted during the voting period will be eligible for the next contest, not the present one.
4. Submission of pictures is permission for them to be used in the Cat-elog. Not all images will be used, as some species are already well documented, but this will strictly be at moderator discretion. If your picture shows up in the top left corner of the thumbnails page for that species, it is the one that Jools feels best represents the species, so congratulations!
5. The top 3 pictures from each contest will be added to the Photo Contest Archive.
6. Only registered users are allowed to vote, and we ask that you please only vote once.

Due to some unforeseen technical difficulties, the start of voting will be pushed back at least a week. I'm working hard on getting a framework in place that will allow hassle-free contests from now on. This also gives all of you photographers out there an extension on the photo submission deadline.

OK, the February contest is finally up! Thanks again Rusty! The script is basically the same for this months contest. Please vote for all of the pictures, and please click on the small thumbnail to get a real idea what the pictures actually look like before rating them (this was a real complaint last time). I'm personally really happy with the turnout we've had this month, and I apologize again for the slow turn around there's been on these contests. That really WILL be resolved when we have time to get the script tweaked the way it needs to be.
The contest can be viewed HERE. Happy voting, and good luck everyone!

Why does the sequence of the pictures reorganize with every viewing/
voting?
I wanted to methodically work my way through the pictures
(not all at one time), but since they didn't stay in sequence I had
to go through everything or risk losing track of what I'd viewed/voted
on. As it was some of the pictures were so similar I wondered if
I had/had not viewed them by the end of the process.
Just my & my viewer, or something else?
Thanks -

I don't think they can jeff, but this topic's been dormant for 5 months almost... photo contests have been postponed due to needed updates in the system.
