Re: Synodontis Granulosus
He was about 5 inches but sadly he died a few hours ago, something happened in shipping and the bag was all torn and almost all the water had leaked out when I got him, he was nearly dead and I tried my best to revive him and he started to swim a bit, that's when I took the pics but 30 min later he started doing a lot worse and died with in a few hours. The seller is replacing him though so I will upload more pics when I get the new one.

I remember you have been looking for them too. Have you found them? Got a thread on them? I'd be interested in reading it.

I have several now. Many said that these catfishes will eat anything but this is not the case for me. I've tried tried fresh shrimp, squid, scallop, clam, hikari(algae wafers, sinking wafers, crab cuisine), NLS large fish formula, hikari frozen blookworm, hikari mysis shrimp, and ghost shrimps. Out of those food listed, they only eat hikari sinking wafers and NLS large fish formula 100% of the time. The other food is just hit and miss. But Synodontis angelicus will eat pretty much anything. I think I might have got some picky granulosus. Here's a short video of one of mine

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
So my new Granulosus arrived today and was in perfect condition, he has acclimated to the new tank amazing and has been exploring the tank. I tried to feed him a few minutes ago and he took pellets right away

The new Granulosus still doing great. I got a pic of him today when he got annoyed at the new fish I added exploring his cave.

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
i keep mine in a 150 with some others, mostly S multipunctatus
Just out of curiosity how much did they set up back?
Around here (US) about $200.00 each, so about 160 pounds sterling
I'v never seen anyone selling that many at one time, mostly they are a one off on a site called aquabid

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
I paid 175 Each. I would have to say I got very lucky and have been looking for a long time. I stumbled across them in a search for WC gibberosa. I am familiar with aquabid I have never ordered from there but its always nice to see what kind of crazy stuff is out there. I am located in the USA.

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
Nice. Cool score, if genuine (beware of knock offs). Also, I must be missing something or... are not multiple granulosus necessarily bad together?

didn't say that . i said the only time i have seen them for sale it was a sole individual. 5 of them would be in excess of $1000.00 and unless i win the lottery that is just not going to happen.
Or if i run a very successful public aquarium in florida. ;)
They grow to be 10" long and a single individual needs a tank 6 feet long, so more than that, what a 180 or a 220 or maybe a 265 to be fair?
i keep mine with S Multipunctatus which make up for their smaller size by being very boisterous so everyone gets along
I've never seen another for sale in the time I have had my single individual ( in a store i trust, not Aquabid who I have no experience with) and if i do and i temporarily take leave of my sense I will probably buy it ( I believe this syndrome has been discussed elsewhere, buying fish on impulse)

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
Oh yea they were price and so were the Zaire. I cant imagine a school of them would be bad. In my experience with tang catfish five or more and they will be more active. So i figured it would be the same. If it doesnt work out they should not be hard to sell.

Wow! That's crazy thank you for the reference. I'm hoping it will go well as there will be 15 gibbs and the five small granuloses in the tank alone. Fingers crossed!

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
I am currently keeping a mystus mysticetus, hemibagrus olyroides, and an ntt datnoid with mine. No issues with him so far, he even shares a cave with the hemibagrus. He is by far the most boisterious fish in the tank and he will sometimes push the other fish around on occasion but it has not caused any issues.

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
so yeah, unless the tank is the size of your living room, multiple grans is a bad thing. they do fine with S multi as tank mates but the multis i have are a really boisterous bunch, always all over the place and this would appear to keep the granulosus in his place. i see him sometimes, lights out or frozen blood worms or black worms he will come out for

Re: Synodontis Granulosus
Update: He is doing great, fully recovered from the damage he sustained after being chewed on my my old endlicheri bichir. He is one of the most active cats I have ever seen, he will roam around during the day and at night he swims laps around the tank and begs for more food.
Here is is chilling with my hemibagrus olyroides + other daytime pics
