I have quit too, but I have one every now and again when I feel like it. I mean, like 1 every 6 weeks or something. It was actually working in a LFS that started me off, all I did was talk about fish all day, smoke and drink tea.

I've also quit tea and am on decaf coffee more or less. I am now known for biting my nails like a demon and spontaneously falling asleep in the oddest moments.

Fish, well they don't have patches for that addiction.

hehe, I can see the demand for just such a patch with some of the significant others of forum members! I, personally, hope they don't find a cure

Have you ever considered... actually... is it us that caught the fish...

We are hooked, arent we? We do not want to, and are not able to... live without fish?

Used to be there. I quit 4 years ago. Was a 2-pack smoker in college and a few years after. This was back when

g was allowed in campus and classrooms (yes even in airconditioned rooms). Dropped it to a pack when the studentry decided to vote against

g in the campus buildings.

Four years ago I was hospitalized for two weeks due to a digestive problem. Afterwards, I figured that it would be such a waste if I continued

g. I haven't touched one since then. Yes, it was well worth it.

Oh yeah, I also quit drinking at the same time too. I don't touch alcohol except when disinfecting my hands and wounds. Used to drink everyday. I always tell people that I got a degree from the state university half drunk. In college, I was always drinking whiskey, scotch, brandy, gin, vodka and whatever I could lay my hands on. It didn't help that I had alcoholic beverage classes due to the fact that I was a Hotel and Restaurant Major. Drinking and tasting were part of those classses. My personal everyday favorites included J&B Jet, Johnny Black and Absolute Vodka. My 4 liter Coleman actually contained beer which I would have for breakfast every morning when I'd drive to school. Another cheap staple was this gin we call Ginebra San Miguel which used to cost less than US$.25. We'd drink this when we were terribly short on cash (Oh yeah, my mom cut allowance by60% when she found out that I smoked). Certain times I was told by groupmates that I smelled like our chemistry experiments after a night of swigging scotch whiskey.

Actually fell asleep behind the wheel during rush hour traffic once. Well, those were the days. I don't touch them anymore, as well, not even a swig or sip. I actually feel good. Thank the Lord that I never got into a serious accident during those times.

Well, it's now 17 days. I got given a cigar last night, which I planned on

g on the sly when my wife went to the bar. It's still in my pocket, I'm just going to try and keep it. Started reading Allen Carrs book, and it does seem bloody good. Only problem is that my wife has decided that she is going to read it first. I almost feel justified to smoke it until she's finnished.

ANyway, it's good to hear all you guys have managed it, I feel like i could be on the home straight.

Clothahump, cheers for the recommendation, I wonder if he does, "remove your fish addiction, the EASYWAY.

Hi guys,

I too have given up!! i was a 20 a day guy.... and have gone cold turkey! but as i thought about it and prepared for it over the Xmas period i wondered if i would substitute that vice for something else. So in my infinite wisdom i have gone into detox! ive given up Smoking, drinking, sugar, carbs ......and biting my nails!!! (i did take medical advice before you get concerned).

The reason for me doing this is that i collapsed with Pneumonia over Xmas and was diagnosed with a large Carcinoid Tumour in my lung the size of a duck's egg!!! yes, the dreaded cancer! I have to have my 3/4 of my right lung removed. Although the prognosis looks good!!

So im the walking testament to why you shouldnt smoke. I learnt by one of the hard ways guys, but there are harder!

Your all doing a fantastic job - keep it up! PLEASE

P.S Sorry for being morbid.

I am not sure but I think he died from lung cancer, do a google and find out.

Yup...still nicotine free. ALthough I have just found out that I have been struck off my NHS dentist, due to the fact I haven't been often enough. Despite the fact My wife just joined!!!!

Bummer!!!

Getting through the book though, my wife has actually mentioned it to her Doc and suggested they recommend it rather than nicotine replacement.

My Doctor now does the same, he actually got his own copy to read even though he has never smoked.
