Any idea ?
It is quite small (only about 4 cm).

Cheers,

Hi, I think it's a member of the Trichomycteridae.

Hi,

thanks a lot, this was also my assumption.
There are two species listed for Marowijne, O. flabelliferus & O. reinhardtii.
However, as I'm not at all into Trichomycteridae...

So I guess it will be carnivorous like Ituglanis ?

Cheers,

Ituglanis is not that carnivorous imo. I kept them for a long time in a SA community-tank and they were friendly.
Ochmacanthus however is, as far as I know, quite parasitic.

I thought - never had them - Ituglanis is, from an aquarists point of view, quite comparable to loaches in behaviour, but from South America.

Hi,

thanks again.
So far I only kept Ituglanis amazonicus for a short time as there were different information about their compatibility as tank mates reaching from no problem at all to all other fish died for unknown reasons. So I gave them to a friend who keeps them in a separate tank. They have indeed something of loaches.
However, it seems I should better have left the Ochmacanthus in Suriname, even if it's only one...

Cheers,
