Panda Cory Dying Off
I have multiple cory species (panda, sterbai, gold lined) and red plecos in my community tank. In the last week i lost two pandas out of three. They have all been in the tank at least 4 months. No aggressors.
Any idea why all of a sudden the loss????
Here's specs - very consistent at these ratings:
Tank Size 46G Bowfront
Filter ML Emperor 400
Temp 78+
Ammonia <1
Nitrate >25
Nitrite 0
Hardness very soft
Chlorine 0
Alkalinity 180+
PH 8+
Plants some live
Water Change Weekly 30%

Re: Panda Cory
Hi Popeye,
Has your pH always been so high? 8+ is not a clear value... pH 14 would also be described as 8+
Also, were there any signs of damage, bleeding, skin lesions, white bits or fuz on the dead fish?
Regards, Eric

Re: Panda Cory
PH is at ~8.2 and has always been that high. No signs of injury or disease. One day eating and the next demised!
Interesting is that two of the three had short tails and the remaining one has a much longer tail than the other two had. I'm sure it means nothing, but it is odd.
I put on my 3D red-blue glasses for your avatar - works.

Re: Panda Cory
Sorry, Popeye. In the absence of any indications of cause of death, any suggestions on my part would be strictly speculative.
