What is max SL of Panaqolus claustellifer?
Hi All,
On its CLOG page, has its max SL listed as 120mm.
The value published in its original description (Here) is 62mm max SL.
If you read the BLOG reports, the largest "smallest" fish involved in spawning is 90mm SL.
But in talking to @CharlieM9, who has been breeding these a while, he says none of his fish get very big, and neither do the fish of other people he knows.
Does anyone know why the max SL is set at 120mm in the CLOG? Assuming our members are measuring their SL correctly, it seems like 90mm is where the value should be set unless someone has a resource or personal experience with larger specimens.
I've been keeping a few since September, and they are slow growing. They are 1.5 years old and yet already my own fry, hatched in August 2017, have already outgrown these claustellifer.
I'd love to hear your feedback.
Cheers, Eric

Wow, either your claustellifer are really tiny or your L397 are growing like crazy. What size are your L397 by now?I've been keeping a few since September, and they are slow growing. They are 1.5 years old and yet already my own L397 fry, hatched in August 2017, have already outgrown these claustellifer.
Too bad, that I have never seen the parents of my claustellifer, so I can't really help either
Mine are about a year old now and have 5cm TL.

My largest largest L397, hatched in August, are already over 2.5"/67mm TL, almost 3"/75mm TL.

@Bekateen, peeked closely tonight and if any of my wilds are over 3.25" TL i would be absolutely shocked.

L397 and L398 seem to grow very quickly. I have gotten L398 up to adult size (3") within a year. Claustellifer hit 1.5" Tl and then slow way down....Jobro wrote: ↑02 Jan 2018, 20:12Wow, either your claustellifer are really tiny or your L397 are growing like crazy. It could be a mistake, old data, so could/should be revised down?

Re: What is max SL of Panaqolus claustellifer?
That's my thought, yes, but I'm not the expert on these.
I'd probably chose 90mm SL, since it's the largest reported value in the BLOGs.
If you think it's appropriate, I'll male the change.
