My first Ancistrus leucostictus, is nice

Post by StickyToe81 »

Asked in the pet store for a Pleco that will not grow that big, and they advised this one. Cool looking fish. White spots. Sucks itself on every object to search for algae. :d

Yes I agree. Although the photo is not clear, I also suspect . is rarely if ever imported, at least not in my area.

No matter the identity, it is a neat fish you have. :-)

Cheers, Eric

My was labeled as in the store. My were labeled as , and the week before the store had stocked some sort of loach in that tank, apparently because one of the new guys thought they were otos. My glass catfish were, of course, still labeled and were sitting in a tank next to some supposed . My Farlowella was labeled as just that - no species name attempt at all.

My favorite mislabeling is the Pimelodella species that was labeled as a . When I asked the LFS about this they said, "Yeah, we don't get these Pimelodella in often enough to have a price tag for them. And since the care conditions are pretty similar, and the price is the same, we just use the pictus tag. If you ask we tell you they aren't really pictus, though."
