Corydoras tank update

Post by adnan »

Hi everyone!
Just a small update. I started this nano Corydoras tank (18 gallons) 3+ months ago. So far everything is going well except my corys really likes to stay hidden under the plants.
The pistia plants make the tank darker so it's not easy to take a quality picture but the real view is impressive.

That's a good shot to one of my Corydoras

Hello,

wow, that's quite a nice tank! What kind of filter do you use?

Cheers,
Lisa

Thank you Lisa!
My nano tank is with its original juwel internal tank on the right side. It does great job indeed- some bio sponge and bio-rings in take care of the biological filtration. Well, the only minus is it takes space in the tank.

Hello,

sounds good, does it require frequent cleaning?
I like your bucephalandra spp., do you use any kind of fertilizer?

Cheers,

Hi Lisa!
I clean up my tank once of week. The nano tank is around 4 months old and the first couple of months I changed weekly 80-90% of water and because of that I lost some of my Shrimps. So recently I change not more than 50% of the tank water. Of course I use prime water conditioner and day after that I add some fertiliser for my plants. My nano is low tech tank so except daily 8-9 hours light and weekly fertilize I don’t use anything else.
Bucephalandra plant is growing relatively slow but it is in really good condition.

Hi everyone!
Let me show you the current situation. At the moment from 10 corydoras left only 5, I don’t know why, could be because of age or some disease. Anyway I maintain good parameters of the aquarium water and all of inhabitants look happy, no stress, good appetite.
Here a picture of the tank.

You might want to feed a bit more, these three look a bit thin to me

Thanks for advise Bas Pels! To be honest I thought that they are ok. They’ve been feeding once per day. Obviously have to focus on their feeding.
Bas Pels, what diet do you provide to your coryes?
