What species is this banjo catfish?
Hi! I bought two banjo catfish just the other day, and am wondering which species are they?
I assume Bunocephalus something, but I've been wrong about that before.
Here they are together: And here is a view of the long bones (with visible hooks), which I have been told can be the key to identification: *click* on this photo to see a better orientation.
Thanks for your help.

Wow that's a little obscure. I was going to say coracoideus, but I expect the coracoid processes to be longer than shown in your photo. So maybe not. I can't say for sure.

Have you got any photos of both of them from the side?

Thanks.
I've got photos of one of them from the side, the one with the dark saddle as shown on the left in the first thread photo.
I caught him this morning and put him in a viewer box. I took many more photos from the side and a few straight on shots of the face. Thanks!

That would be interesting.
Which is which?
And what specific physical traits (as seen in the photos) lead you to believe this?
Thanks!
