Olyra Longicaudata
Tiny fish, 5 centimetres has a cute cup for a hideout. It really lacks the ability to compete for food with the tank's top feeders, so I isolated him. And that makes it easier to take photos.

It's kind of hard to take a good picture of him since he is generally nocturnal.

They are splendid ! Where did you get them ? I search this species but no one sells ...
What is the volume of their tank ? What type of scenery ?

Re: Olyra Longicaudata
In China, occasionally rare Indian catfishes come in along with other less interesting species. I keep my two Longicaudatas inside transparent cages hanging on the tank walls since they are very unfriendly to each other.

Re: Olyra Longicaudata
There are two individuals, the first one is tiny, about 5 centimeters, while the one that hides in the cup is about 7. They fight constantly so they are housed separately.

Re: Olyra Longicaudata
typically have very long upper caudal lobes, even at small sizes (I have seen specimens at 1.5 inches TL with this character). I can't really see the caudal lobes in the pictures you have posted but I don't think the upper lobe is elongated. This points towards another species.
All the Indian in the trade are collected from the Indian states of West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya. is a possibility as are a few other species as well. Either way, cracking fish!!!

Major: Now what's this... stone, stone, stone, (looks down at his hand) and scissors. Now. Scissors cut everything, don't they?
Sergeant: Not stone, sir.
Major: They're very good scissors!!

Thank you for the information! It would be wonderful if they turn out to be other species.

They have grown about 3 mm during the period of 1 month.
Here are the pictures of the larger individual.

Re: Olyra Longicaudata
Why don't you make a small photography tank? It will be quite useful, especially when shooting fish like these.

I am away from home traveling right now. I will set up a photography tank when I get back, at around 6.4th.Shovelnose wrote: ↑08 May 2017, 19:12 Why don't you make a small photography tank? It will be quite useful, especially when shooting fish like these.
The fish dealer who I got these Olyras from will be receiving a new shipment soon and I am going to try finding more rare species. Maybe small goonchs.
