I'm semi-retiring from the forum
This day has finally come. For reasons best known to Jools and the moderating team, I am announcing my semi-retirement from the forum. This means that I will no longer proactively carry out the following:
1. Moderating duties (banning spammers, removing spam posts, etc.)
2. Create new posts (particularly in the science news forum - this means that I will no longer be posting new species descriptions or other scientific studies, including my own...someone else will have to pick up the slack)
3. Post answers to threads
I may drop in from time to time to do any of the above activities, but only when requested to do so.
My sources for new species descriptions (and other papers) remain. Requests for pdfs are always welcome from Jools and anyone else who knows how to contact me.
It's been a long and fun 15-year ride, but all good things must come to an end.
PS. Note to Jools: Would appreciate this being made a sticky.

You'll be missed HH. Don't know how many "what kind of fish is this?" posts I've waited for your input on after making my own private guess. Best wishes for all your future endeavors.

Thank you HH, Your contributions to the scientific community as well how well informed you kept the forum of both your own and other research has been invaluable to the forum as well as to myself, the scientific literature you shared is among the very first I have read, enjoyed and understood. I hope all is well and that you fully realize how large your impact on this site and the individuals who use it has been and will continue to be long after you leave.
Wishing you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors

I can stop keeping catfish whenever I want. I just don't think I'll ever want to do that...

You have been a tremendous blessing! It's people like you and Jools and Co that make a positive difference in the world.
Thank you HH for the invaluable and selfless service to the community. Thank you for providing us with a surprising (to me) availability to the pinnacle, cutting edge ichthyological and taxonomic expertise. I could never have dreamed to have a full time access to one of the leading minds in contemporary ichthyology. It's like having a direct line to the President, who can boast of that?
You will be sorely missed but at the same time I am sure we all remain grateful and indebted and wish you only the best of whatever lies ahead of you.
