Nice setup. The sump may be a bit of overkill in terms of its volume. But over filtering is never a bad thing.

Nice tank! Try corys with the discus if you haven't figured out what to do otherwise.

over filtering is super sexy, the stand will be boxed in, so will hide everything ;)
spoken about Cory's will suss out options and see how we go

Re: 5x2x2 Tank, CAtties and Discus maybe
settled for a nice mix of 8 discus, and some cories, and maybe sneak a trio of rams in, see how things pan out,
selecting the discus in another 4 weeks, Sterbai, maybe, just ordered a custom perspex sock holder for the sump, and some other sexy little things

Sterbai are good since they are ok in 80+ F water that Discus prefer. I also have leucamelas (?) Cories and l204 plecos in my Discus tank

We will more than likely go with Sterbai to start with, and Looking at a couple of options for the catties, here is the tank on Day 2 of setup, monitoring it for 4 weeks before the Discus come.

Re: 5x2x2 Tank, CAtties and Discus maybe
Sarah wanted a few Peppermint catfish in the Discus tank, so we caught out 3 little ones this morning, Breeding tank Ph sits at 4.5-5, this tank after a huge amount of rain fall is 6.5-7, acclimatized them well and now they are as happy as "" Pepps in mud""

Please refrain from adding any cories if you intend to keep the bare bottom tank.

Allright
Did not mean no harm.
But I have seen a lot of Diskus keepers keeping them on bare bottom (which is fine for Diskus) so I assumed you would do the same because I couldn't see sand in your videos. So I just felt like I had to speak up for the cories.
I have been checking your thread for a while. Keep it up.
Cheers Johannes

Beautiful set-up mate! The Java Fern & driftwood looks very elegant! Just curious - is that a white Styrofoam sheet underneath the tank & sump?

Re: 5x2x2 Tank, CAtties and Discus maybe
Sure is, the stand will be boxed in in another 2 months, so you wont see any of the sump and or top of the bottom of the tank where the foam is, and will have a custom hood also built

Keep the great pics coming! A few years ago, the wife & I traveled to Cairns & spent a week on a live aboard Dive Boat Scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef. Now THATS an aquarium!
