Ancistrus sp "wabenmuster"
Ancistrus sp. "wabenmuster", a beautiful ancistrus species without location details. There for not entered in the cat-e-log.
But I have so many nice pictures and video of this fish I would like to start a topic about them. All information I will add to this thread, enjoy
After some time of searching I collected this very nice Ancistrus in Germany from Oliver Frank.
I bought a group of 10 youngsters, all about 4cm.
The markings on this species are truly magnificent!
Five months later they are about 7cm and one of the fish is growing his tentacles.
Nice bright colors, possible female.
Ancistrus wabenmuster during feeding.

Re: Ancistrus wabenmuster
It's a pretty one. I am being picky, but it should be written Ancistrus sp. "wabenmuster" else some could think it is a described species name (and, formally this can cause taxonimic issues). Oh, and I can add them to the catelog if you would like them to have a home here.
Thanks for posting, they're great pictures.

CLOG entry created as . And IIRC, @jac, elsewhere you've given us permission previously to use your photos on the CLOG. I've held off because there was no CLOG page, but now that it's created, I'll add in your photos.Jools wrote:... it should be written Ancistrus sp. Re: Ancistrus wabenmuster
I'm picky too so changed the name straight away Daniel once asked me why I used a capital letter for the species name, and told me off So I don't anymore! It's the simple things, but important....and picky I like it!!Jools wrote:It's a pretty one. I am being picky, but it should be written Ancistrus sp. Re: Ancistrus sp "wabenmuster"
If a fish breeds true - offspriung looks similar to the parents, the fish cannot be a hybrid in that apsect
It can still be a domestic morph, such as an albino, but as far as I know, this Ancistrus was imported, given it's name and Jacqueline managed to breed them. So most likely it is either a new population of a known species or a new species
