An update on my little ones:
A few weeks ago I moved two of the juveniles into my big 450L tank, where the bogwood had become covered in BBA. They're doing an amazing job stripping it all off - they don't actually eat it so I have to siphon up the mess, but the wood is almost free of algae now.

I have arranged to sell up to 10 of them to Aqualife, I wasn't sure how many there were. Well I got up early this morning to catch them, and in the end there are another 14 (so 16 in total). I'm taking 10 to the shop as agreed and will sell the other four privately.

Whilst moving all the decor in the tank to catch them, on of the adult males refused to come out of his wooden cave. I left it in and worked round him.

Hope all is well with yours too?
Paul

Two of my boys have been trapping on and off all week, one of them is now. I had three very gravid females ready to pop, well one did! :) Last night discovered a male with eggs in the cave. He wasn't as interested in fanning the eggs but more in the female waiting outside. ;)

Bit of an eventful few days in L397 tank. After dad kicked, there's now a new batch of fry in egg tumbler, was a bit of an issue with fungussed eggs, was concern over how many would successfully hatch, but got a good few fry despite this. There's still 2 very gravid females, 2 males have been intermittently trapping both on quite a few occasions, hence no day 4 fry pics this one was trapping within a few inches of egg tumbler. Some pics attached of adults and wrigglers. The last time i checked one was trapping again so I'm fairly certain they'll be more babies to come in the next week or so. :)

Also an update. I've had three batches since last update. Although I was told knocking temp back would stop them breeding, I was also advised that with leaving as it is, they'd know when to stop, I'm not so sure they do! =))
Here's the result!

Nice - you're getting over-run with them :)
Interesting to see the partially colourless one. Will it colour up or is this an unusual one?

Still very young, so should colour up a bit more. But the latest batches have had some very nice patterns.

Obviously Paul's youngsters have a taste for more protein based foods have you found this with yours, as with your mustard spots. Although for obvious reasons and certainly not as a staple, maybe I should add something similar occasionally.

When I make up my Repashy mix, I always put about 20% 'meat pie' in with the other green components ('morning wood','soilent green', chlorella, spirulina). The L397s and the Farlowellas really love the Repashy; they'll leave Vitalis pleco pellets untouched and be all over the Repashy.

Mine get a variety of commercial foods so obviously contains a bit of protein. I did pinch your repashy recipe. But the boys pigged out on everyone's share and got tubby. So back on a tetra prima/veg flake diet, occasionally Vitalis pleco pellets and nature kind.

Hi Teresa,

My mustard spots and clowns really love boiled clams (in moderation of course), and my mustard spots seek out live blackworms. They, and my L397, also eat boiled scallops and shrimp, but not as eagerly as boiled clams.

Cheers, Eric
