.
Still no progress with the pair last night as of yet, the female escaped. Fairly sure she'll be back at some point. Very soon though, I will be reducing temp back a bit to give them a rest from breeding. Bit difficult to do as the weather has been quite warm recently.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Nice pics Paul! growing well what size are they now, was wanting to ask you how they fare in a more natural tank set up like yours, mine are in a completely different environment, bare bottom tank. Obviously is wood, but not as much as a variety, most probably different feeding regime. Wondering if there's any growth rate diiference, my first batch was around the same time, or just after. I moved on some 4 -5 cm youngsters recently. Obviously have access to wood but not a great variety. Mine are slowing down a bit, starting to drop temp back slightly to give them a break been busy all summer three batches later got some stunners in the last batch and the latest ones markings, although very small are looking very nice. Hoping to get one more batch this summer. Going to give them a break maybe condion them for a while and up temp again in about three months. Decided to be greedy and keep at least twelve from the last 2 batches! Then grow them on get a good balance of sexes so hopefully in a year or 2 they have some grandkids! Planning and setting up a more biotopically themed tank, in time for when they are a good size for it.

Thanks
Mine haven't grown nearly as quickly as yours, they're about 3cm SL at the moment (some bigger than others). They haven't had such targeted feeding as yours, because they're in a tank with the parents and I've been away from home a lot recently.
Apart from a variety of woods, mine get a diet of Repashy gel mix (morning wood, soilent green, meat pie, and chlorella&spirulina powder), vitalis pleco pellets, courgette or red bell pepper.

I did move them back in with parents, once a suitable size. I mostly feed on tetra prima. Bit of courgette but the parents destroy it's obviously in one end and out the other, and leaves the tank in a right mess.

4 batches since I obtained the group back in may, I'm hoping to be able to rest them very soon by turning temp down slightly, still have 2 gravid females so will give it a while, anyway I'm not sure its going to happen that soon though! Weather temps are forecast to possibly hit 30 in the next day or so.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
The huge pieces of wood in my big tank are perenially covered in algae. The presence of an SAE, two Farlowellas and a small group of Otos makes no dent on it.
Imagine my surprise the other day when I spotted clean bite-marks over a moderate area of the wood. Who could be having a munch?
I'd almost forgotten who I'd put in there a couple of weeks back - one of my fry from under the stairs. Tonight I managed to catch him almost red-handed (well, red and black finned...)

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Some teethmarks!! Never seen mine eating algae like this, but then again I've not put wood like this in front of them. Foods like algae wafers, spiriluna flakes ect go untouched, guess I need to start trying to cultivate some. The last two batches are being raised on tetra prima, courgettes, also started feeding naturekind that goes down well in all tanks. Adults have not spawned for a while, might have something to do with the fry/juvies in with them.
Thanks Teresa

I had the same with my Farlowellas this week! Two males spawned with the same female and they're both guarding eggs about 8" apart on the glass.
I need to move some of the twig cats on or I'll be seriously over-run. I've already got two generations breeding and I think the third generation is about to join in...
